Jeanie An Kartalian M.D. is the cofounder of EnVision Summit and a champion of the Take Your Child to Conference concept. After sharing the experience of being the only parent to bring a teen to conference to hear an inspirational speaker, she realized that this was an opportunity for change. She leverages her medical training and entrepreneurial resolve to build partnerships across academia, industry and nonprofit sectors to create programs that help foster holistic growth in youths. Dr. Kartalian has launched a school-wide fitness challenge, after-school CPR training and a healthy cooking class program for the most vulnerable teens—all sponsored by the local business community.
She currently serves on the board of the American Youth Philharmonic Orchestras, and participates in the Financial Aid and Scholarship Committee. Previously she served as one of the founding board members of the Children’s Museum of Northern Virginia, now called the Children’s Science Center. She has also helped with the Capital Campaign of the International Museum of McAllen. Her decades of service includes teaching as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Nepal after graduating with a major in mathematics from Carleton College. Her medical and residency training were both at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, followed by the Pediatrics Residency Program. Dr. Kartalian has a Certificate in Marketing from Georgetown University, and has cofounded a medical device startup. She considers her most important role as a cofounder to be launching her three children, from whom she derives tremendous joy, inspiration, and optimism.
